Plastic Fantastic?! In het najaar van 2017 startte Spaarnestad Photo met de KABK in Den Haag het eerste ‘Interactive Archive LAB’. De deelcollectie Kunststof en Rubber werd bekeken door 20 studenten. Een fotocollectie met 14.500 afbeeldingen (periode 1950-1995) uit het gelijknamige magazine. De foto’s geven een euforisch beeld van de ongekende mogelijkheden van plastics na WOII, niet wetende dat het 50 jaar later één van de grootste milieuproblemen zou worden. Het geselecteerde beeld werd gedigitaliseerd voor gebruik op de beeldbank en de studenten maakten eigen werk geïnspireerd op deze collectie.

Plastic Fantastic ?! In the autumn of 2017, Spaarnestad Photo launched the first ResearchLAB with the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. During this pilot project, the Plastic and Rubber sub-collection was viewed by 20 students. A photo collection with 14,500 images (period 1950-1995) from the eponymous magazine (Kunststof en rubber). The photos give a euphoric view of the unprecedented possibilities of plastics after WWII, not knowing that 50 years later it would become one of the biggest environmental problems. The selected images were digitized for use on the image bank and the students made their own work inspired by this collection.
